Universes were always supposed to be okay. Skaia simply destroys one planet for the chance for a new universe. For example, the trolls' universe is fine. (Well, minus the billions of dead trolls killed by the vast glub.) The kids' universe was sick.
Oh, I see! Thanks for letting me know~
I guess if it weren’t for the Vast Glub, and the fact that all the mother grubs were on Alternia, the troll species could have survived. Alas!
I have a feeling that all this romance talk is directed (somewhat) towards shippers.
Poor Karkat, first John throws a bucket at him, now John is going to push him down a flight of stairs. I’d make a kismesis joke but I don’t think John is capable of that kind of thing!
Doc Scratch was responsible for setting up Alternia after the scratch? Hm…
I’m pretty sure this means something I should be able to figure out, but I can’t. I mean, I know Doc Scratch was working towards, er, activating Lord English but I’m not sure how setting up Alternia would lead to that.
We get to see Vriska!– GODDAMMIT MY NOTES LIED TO ME, MOTHERFUCKERS. I don’t know how I would up with my notes saying Vriska was the thief of life instead of light.
Oh, wait, fuck, we have to wait. Probably for another thousand pages.
“When it comes to being here, already is practically all he ever is.”
I’m not sure if I should stop making posts because I like a particular line, or if I should make a lot more of them. Damn there’s some clever wordplay.
so, here’s my video reaction to “[S][A6I2] ???” and Act 6 Act 3.
I sliced it down the middle because the game that came after was long and boring for you guys to listen to, and I’m busy and had to run off, so I didn’t pick a good place to stop by the audio, so it just kind of…cuts off. Apologies for the bootleg reaction this time. Physics is hard.
Hemera is Jane’s denizen, then, I believe. It seems the denizens have some sort of (potentially) cooperative relationship with the…I forgot what the little amphibians and crocs and stuff are called…and with the heroes. I think Karkat may have given us bad information…but no real surprise that he approaches everything violently.
This is probably referencing Jake’s dream self being dead, rather than the entire aspect, but it’s still incredibly worrying to hear that Hope is dead. I mean, he could still die. Maybe the aspect is already dead, since he’s somehow related to Lord English, and Lord English is pretty much the opposite of hope.
Jade is probably capable of divine intervention by now, though.
I feel like there is one thing you haven't reacted on in Jane's session. Notably, one that a quote from Rose may jog your memory on. TT: Failing to prototype the kernel is the absolute worst thing that you could possibly do. TT: Like, ever.
I thought I did!
Obviously I am super fucking concerned. I mean, their battlefield is completely destroyed, so I guess it might not matter anyway if it can’t heal itself or reach its final form, but still probably bad. And I figure there’s something worse that will come of it, since the battlefield probably doesn’t matter a lot with
Oh, but it was the lack of a reckoning that let the Condesce take over Earth, and the unprototyped kernelsprites caused that…
Vriska, Tavros, Tavri, you poor suffering thing. I wanted you back but not like this! It’s like I wished on a monkey’s paw and this is my punishment reward.
Plot twist! Dirk isn’t confessing his love to Jake. Which makes sense because this is a flashback and Dirk is just now planning on telling Jake, but that didn’t stop me from expecting it all the same.
So I’m not sure if it would work with the mother grub thing, but this makes me wonder a bit if troll reproduction wasn’t designed to make the population more controllable. Nobody has family ties aside from their romantic relationships, nobody is particularly attached to the younger generation, inheritance (to kids anyway) isn’t a thing, so property is easier to control, etc.
I’m probably wrong but I’m also putting it out there. Because you never know with this thing. But she’s probably just trying to make humans more like trolls.
Does this mean she made a new Gl'bgolyb, or somehow resurrected the old one? That’s crazy! And it kept glubbing, and killing off all the trolls! I wonder why. To punish her? Or perhaps to guide the events forward in a specific direction, one that doesn’t involve trolls coming back?
I gather that the kids are going to make another new universe, since they’re bringing their battlefield and hinting that significant things will happen there, but they also might establish a new troll population in the alpha kids’ universe, and since the troll kids want to reform their species, having other trolls would be detrimental.
Dirk arrived at, IIRC, around the end of his infancy. Crawling, moving around on his own, but definitely not capable of caring for himself physically, much less emotionally or psychologically. So Cal must have been capable of feeding, changing, teaching, protecting, socializing, etc. a baby.
AND we have some heavy implications that Cal is evil and/or the tool of something evil. So we have Jake English, who is closely associated with Lord English, and now Dirk Strider, raised by Lil Cal the puppet that portends doom and destruction in every universe that contains him.
I am very concerned.
I’m also viscerally upset by the idea of a child being raised without any opportunity for the love and care of a parent/general adult.
So, in this version of the world, Jade left the batterwitch to explore the world and John stayed behind? John was raised by Betty Crocker? Who is also the Condesce? Damn.
She took the last name English, after lord English, and adopted his colors and the skull symbol. That is a terrible idea. Although at least now we know how Jake came to have so much in common with Lord English, and it’s not as terrifying as I was expecting.
I keep misreading this as “nickel shit” instead of “the nickel shit”, and I thought for a second Dirk was comparing John to like, manure. Manure that is on point.
1. Wow, that is a seriously different system than the other troll world. What a weird utopia, no wonder they didn’t do well in the game. They’d need to have an almost perfectly balanced world to maintain that, and if it falls apart I imagine their society would break down pretty fast.
2. Goddamnit Aranea, stop being so stingy with the details…or rather, the details I want.
